Cheaper air conditioning & heating with geothermal heat pumps
GHP systems utilize virtually constant ground, groundwater and surface water temperatures throughout the year. This achieves the maximum efficiency of the heat pumps compared to the corresponding conventional systems with energy savings of up to 80%.
Geothermal heat pumps are widespread throughout the world - more than 3,000,000 units are installed worldwide - and especially in countries such as the USA, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, Germany and France, where it has been developed and established. corresponding technology and practices, and where geothermal heat pump systems have been operating reliably for decades. Shallow geothermal energy is available and exploitable everywhere regardless of the existence of geothermal potential. GATH systems can be used in a variety of applications such as office buildings, homes, apartment buildings, sports centers, swimming pools, greenhouses, etc.
The Minister of PEKA Mr. Giannis Maniatis on the subject stated: "This is a competitive technology, which is directly related to the field of self-government, both in terms of implementation and licensing, modernizes its infrastructure, drastically reduces heating and cooling costs, and can combined with upgrading the quality of life and the environment.
It supports the green growth model that we are embracing for the country and the transition to a low carbon economy, while it serves the goal of 30% energy savings that we must set for 2030 ".
Representatives of Local Government Organizations, employees involved in programs and licensing of technical projects and technical staff of Municipalities and Regions were presented the possible applications and the main advantages of Geothermal Heat Pump Systems such as:
• Mature and reliable environmentally friendly technology.
• Reduction of CO2 and NOx emissions.
• Energy savings of up to 80% compared to conventional technologies for heating / cooling / DHW.
• Contribute to the Community directive on the energy efficiency of buildings.
• Reduction of costs for heating and air conditioning by 25-75%.
• Providing low energy costs from the underground for heating and cooling buildings, regardless of weather conditions.
• Long-term increase in the value of the building.
• Low cost of installation and equipment maintenance.
• No noise during operation of the installation.
• No fire protection required.
• Providing heating with high quality comfort indoors.
• Smaller space is required to install the equipment compared to the conventional boiler room. No boiler, oil tank, or chimney are required, and no maintenance is required on geo-exchangers.
• They are a growing market - growth rate of 25% per year.
• Contribution to energy sustainable development.
• They are applied in all building complexes such as: detached houses, apartment buildings, public buildings, industries, schools, libraries, hotels, spas, agricultural enterprises (greenhouses), sports facilities, handicrafts, industries, heating of swimming pools, etc.
